Beginning of the Robot Army

I've been reading a lot of mass-market science books about evolution and biology. Many of the theoretical examples that are discussed often involve artificial intelligence and computer programming (the latter being my profession). While poking around trying to find out more on this topic, I discovered some scientists who have started the nascent robot army that will eventually conquer the planet and try to kill Sarah Conner.

During the course of 500 generations, or about a week, the robots evolved to use their blue lights to communicate. Some groups flashed them to tell others where the food was; other groups used them to warn of the presence of poison. As the tactic worked and the genomes of successful communicators survived, the robots became more and more efficient at foraging.

Or killing humans.
