Bulldogs Defeat Greyhounds, 20-12

The Bordentown Bulldogs (60lb Division) held off the Northern Burlington Greyhounds 20-12 on a brilliant and cool October morning at Bordentown Regional Middle School. The Bulldog defense came up big late, but it was the Bulldog offense that scored steadily all game, converting 2 of 3 point after attempts which ultimately kept the game out of reach from the late-surging Hounds.

Max Berton (No. 99, center) points out a blocking assignment to teammate Ethan Csenteri (No. 89, right). The Bordentown Bulldogs offensive line controlled the visiting Northern Burlington Greyhounds in their game on October 13th, 2007 at the Bordentown Regional Middle School

The Bulldogs' Noah Jackson scored two touchdowns in the first half (he had three on the day). Andrew Lebak and Kyle Kelly led an outstanding effort by the Bulldogs offensive line, helping to drive through 2 of 3 point after attempts, which really made a difference late in the game. On defense, DJ Parks, Scot Soanes and Michael Scaramuzzo plugged up the middle trying to slow down an excellent Northern running game which managed to break two runs for scores. The Bulldogs defense held firm at their goal line, preventing the Greyhounds from converting any point after attempts.

Late in the fourth, with the score 20-12, Northern mounted a final drive deep into Bulldog territory. As time expired, the Bulldog defensive line made a final stop, getting the ball back on downs. The combination of a solid goal-line defense and a determined running game gave the Bulldogs their fourth win of the year, taking them to 4-1.

Pictures from today's action are here.

The Bulldogs travel to face the Pemberton Hornets next Saturday at 12:30pm.

The Bulldogs' Andrew Leback (No. 32, left) finishes a sack while Michael Scaramuzzo (No. 8, center) and DJ Parks (No. 26, right) sweep in from the outside to contain the play. The Bulldogs defense continues to improve as they move into the second half of their season

I work with many food and beverage directors and just did a trade show for themepark foodservice. One of the vendors had an interesting food item that would make a great fund raiser for HS sports booster clubs or even your Bulldog group. It was called Taco in a bag. All they did was buy small lunch box snack bags of Frito's, crunched them up while the bag is still sealed. Open bag and put in all your ingredients for taco's and eat with a spoon. They had a hot stewed beef sauce that was quite meaty too if you didn't want the burger bits toppings, all the chopped up cheeses, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoe bits, peppers, onion toppings etc. It was really good and could sell easily for $4 each. You just walk around with the frito bag in your hand with your favorite toppings inside and eat right out of the bag.
