The Bordentown Bulldogs (60lb Division) faced their first foul weather game over the weekend against the Atco Lions. October finally opened up its skies, setting the stage for a muddy, wet and windy battle on the Bordentown Regional Middle School fields. The hurricane-like conditions kept scoring to a minimum, and the Bulldogs came out on top, 6-0.
The only scoring took place in the first half. After a methodical and muddy drive, fueled by huge gains on the ground from the Bulldogs' Noah Jackson, Bordentown lined up in the red zone, 5-yards from the Atco end zone. Sweeps were out of the question given the slippery conditions, so the Bulldogs elected to hand the ball off to one of their senior backs, Brandon Christian, for a run off-tackle. Christian hammered the middle of the Atco line and carried five defensive linemen with him as he drove in to score.

The remainder of the game was dominated by defense on both sides. The Atco offense was lethargic, and the Bulldogs pushed them around for most of the game. However, as time ran out in the fourth quarter, Atco managed to mount their only foray into Bulldog territory, pushing all the down to the Bulldog 5-yard line. Out of timeouts and helpless to stop the clock, time expired and sealed the shutout victory for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are now 6-1 on the year. Next saturday, they travel to Lawnside to face a tough Jaguars squad for their last game of the season.
