We're not the only ones who allow visitors to our site take away copies of whatever they might find here (in our case, picture-wise). We originally took inspiration from the band Radiohead, who decided to first release the album In Rainbows online as a digital download for which fans could decide the price they paid. The same ethos applies here. And we recently found another great web site which releases sublime, energetic music, at a price you cannot beat.
Kristin Hersh (solo artist, current member of 50 Foot Wave and former member of Throwing Muses) has established the site CASH Music. From their blurb:
CASH is a platform for engagement. A way for audiences and creators to exchange creative perspectives and ideas. Why is this good? Because it's how things are now — and in our humble opinion it's a change for the better. An engaged and participating audience has a stake in the continuation and existence of the artistic output. An engaged audience is a healthy, vibrant 'scene' grown up around creative works.
Hersh has her own section at CASH Music, and there are already some quality tracks there for you to download: go there now and listen. At the very bottom, at your discretion, you can make a contribution. You can even subscribe on an ongoing basis to support the effort.
This is all extremely high-quality material from noteworthy, relevant artists. It's quite worth checking out.
